Roofing Contractor Hiring a roofing contractor to perform a roof installation or roof repair job isn’t hard. There are plenty of them out there for you to choose from. However, hiring the right roofing contractor for the job can be more challenging than you might expect. Take a look at several questions you should ask a roofing contractor before bringing them on board for your next roofing project.

“How much experience do you have?”

The roof on your home is probably the most important part of it. So you shouldn’t trust just anyone to work on it. You need a roofing contractor with lots of experience to install a new roof for you or repair your existing one.

“What roofing services can you provide?”

There are some roofing contractors who only do roof installations. There are others who prefer to do mostly roof estimates and roof repairs. Ideally, you should try to track down a roofing contractor who can provide any roofing services that you need. They should also be able to work on asphalt roofs, cedar shake roofs, and more.

“Do you do all of your own work?”

Believe it or not, there are a lot of roofing contractors who will get you to agree to let them work on your home—and then turn around and ask subcontractors to do the actual work. Make sure that a roofing contractor is going to be doing all of the work on your home themselves. Otherwise, you won’t have any idea who you’re allowing to work on your roof.

“Can you provide proof of a license and insurance?”

You should not work with a roofing contractor who doesn’t have a license and insurance. You could find yourself in a world of trouble if you let someone without a business license or insurance work on your roof. Avoid the headache by asking to see a roofing contractor’s license and insurance ahead of time.
